Aromatic cream cheese mousse
This is for you if you enjoy the rich flavour and aroma of star anis. Serve with mashed banana, a great combination. As it is not very sweet, it will also go well with vegetable sauces or purees.
Ingredients
- 500 ml milk
- 6 wheels star anis
- 1 tsp vanilla paste
- 2 tbsp caster sugar
- 1 sachet powdered gelatin
- 100 g cream cheese
- 150 g Greek yogurt
- 2 egg whites, whipped (with a pinch of salt)
Method
- In a small saucepan, sprinkle gelatin over a little water, set aside to soak. In a saucepan, add star anis to the milk, bring to the boil. Add sugar and vanilla paste. Remove from the heat. Dissolve gelatin and add to the warm milk while whisking. Pass through a sieve to remove star anis. Set aside to let cool.
- In a bowl, whisk yogurt and cream cheese together until well combined. Combine with the milk and mix well. Fold in the whipped egg whites. Refrigerate for several hours (or overnight) until set.
