Butter beer
A taste of Hogwart – and a considerable count of calories per serving.
Ingredients
- 1 tsp vanilla paste
- 2 tsp soft butter
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 100 ml whipping cream, whipped
- 100 ml cream
- 400 ml milk
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 tbsp cocoa powder
- 250 ml malt beer
Method
- In a saucepan, melt the butter over moderate heat, add the sugar and heat, while stirring with a wooden spoon, until sugar melts and slightly caramelises. Add 100 ml cream (may splutter), cook until caramel dissolves. Add milk, vanilla paste, cinnamon and cocoa powder. Bring to the boil while whisking. Reduce heat and simmer for a few minutes. Remove from heat, add malt beer while whisking (do not boil anymore or the mixture will curdle). Serve topped with whipped cream.
