SALT support can be necessary as an acute, short-term intervention but typically is a long-term relationship between therapist and patient, often including carers. Similar to the role of physiotherapy, following assessment a large component of SALT is guidance to effective self-help and self-management (with a pinch of perseverance and patience in the mix).
